The term gained popularity largely through the 2025 album AFICIONADO – Flamenco Moro by Moroccan oud player and composer Alaa Zouiten. The work specifically blends the rhythmic structures and spirit of flamenco with Moroccan-Andalusian musical elements, featuring the oud (a lute-like instrument) alongside the flamenco guitar and percussion.
