Celestial Antiquity Sh2-129 & OU4
The Flying Bat Nebula, also known as Sh2-129, is a large, faint emission nebula in the constellation Cepheus. It is a region of ionized hydrogen gas, appearing red, that surrounds the even fainter, blue-glowing Squid Nebula (Ou4), which is made of ionized oxygen. This blue nebula was recently discovered in 2011 by amateur astronomer Nicolas Outters. 25ooly distant.
