Sh2-126, also called the Great Lacerta Nebula or Star Funnel, is a vast, faint emission nebula in the constellation Lacerta, famous for its intricate, reddish hydrogen-alpha glow and dramatic dark dust lanes that look like a “funnel” or “gecko”. Part of the active star-forming Lacerta OB1 region, its gas is ionized by bright, hot stars like 10 Lacertae, creating a stunning contrast between bright filaments and dark clouds, making it a popular target for astrophotography. 1200ly
