CELESTIAL ANTIQUITY Event 3-28-24

The Celestial Antiquity Event is scheduled on 3-28-24 at UWEC Eau Claire, WI at 7pm. The location of the event will be at Gartner Hall in Haas Fine Arts building on campus of UWEC.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Celestial Antiquity will present an exhilarating journey into a glimpse of the known celestial objects in our universe and beyond. The images will be accompanied by Artaria String Quartet propelling the images to life. 
Percussionist and Educator mick laBriola will present a few hundred space images of various noteworthy significance; including an intriguing array of Nebula, Galaxies, Astrophotographers compositions as well as the JWST. The program will encompass the Galactic Categories of NGC, ABELL, Messier, ARP, LMC, SMC, LDN and recognize science and technology organizations such as NASA, Hubble, ESA, ISS, ESO, IRAS and Chandra.  
 
The event will feature Artaria String Quartet. A warm, rich sound is the hallmark of the Artaria String Quartet. The Boston Globe has described Artaria as “exquisitely balanced and sonorous” and that “their musical understanding is first-rate”.
mick will join the quartet on a few pieces collaborating with percussion instruments of various cultural origins. Compositions will include pieces by Debussy, Ravel, Danish String Quartet, Phillip Glass, Hawa Kassé Mady Diabaté, Zhou Tian and Florence Price.
