MAQAM performing for the Rosemary and Meredith Wilson Harmony for Mayo Program at Mayo Clinic
mick will be performing and hosting the MAQAM ensemble. This performance will feature Salah Abdel Fatah on Oud, Vocals and Violin; with David Stenshoel on Violin, Dawn Doering on Nay (arabic flutes) and mick laBriola on percussion.
For this concert we are featuring music of Sayed Darwish, Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Farid El Atrache, Riyad Al Sunbati and Ibrahim Al Aryan.
Aliyan Sahar
MAQAM will also feature the dancing of Aliyah Sahar.
The MAQAM ensemble was created by mick in the late 1990’s, to facilitate Assembly School/Lyceum programs; performing and educating audiences throughout Minnesota and the Midwest. The ensemble’s directive is to offer an insightful perspective of Arabic Cultural artistic contributions through music, poetry, song, dance and historic overview.
In addition to performing in schools the ensemble offers presentations in Libraries, Community functions, Workshops and concerts.
